Single mothers typically have a full plate of duties and responsibilities. Yet, many are expert multi-taskers. Balancing parenthood, work and education is a common challenge. There is seldom enough money to meet education costs. Single mothers often believe a college education is beyond their reach for financial reasons. The common need for financial help for single mothers is available. Here are some scholarships for single mothers.
The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. Single parents living in Arkansas are eligible. While single mom’s are not the total focus of this financial aid, Arkansas single parents receive tuition help to achieve their education goals.
The Jeanette Ranking Foundation Scholarship Program. Over 500 women have received these scholarships since 1978. Available from November through February, these scholarships for single mothers help particularly those 35 and older, complete their education.

President and scholarship founder, Doris Buffet, established the Women’s Independence Scholarship Program (WISP), believing that every student who is willing to work hard should have the opportunity to earn a degree. Since 2007, these scholarships have helped motivated single parents with financial need to complete their education.
Single mothers focused on earning new education credentials have other opportunities for scholarships. The Internet allows single parents to find additional scholarships for single mothers to earn Bachelors and Masters Degrees.
There are also a few life insurance products that combine protection with college savings plans. Using this approach, single mothers can create their own personal “scholarship fund.”
